Google Play screenshot sizes for 2026

Google is looser than Apple. Screenshots just need each side between 320 and 3840 pixels with no side more than twice the other. The numbers that actually matter are 1080 by 1920 for featuring eligibility, 1024 by 500 for the feature graphic, and 512 by 512 for the icon

The short version

Every asset on a Play listing

Feature graphic 1024 × 500 Required JPEG or 24 bit PNG, no transparency, doubles as the preview video cover
App icon 512 × 512 Required 32 bit PNG with alpha, up to 1024KB, no ranking or price badges
Tablet and Chromebook 1080 to 7680 per side Recommended 16:9 landscape or 9:16 portrait, at least 4 to show the large screen experience
Wear OS 384 × 384 minimum For Wear apps Square 1:1, no transparent backgrounds or masking
Android TV banner 1280 × 720 For TV apps At least one TV screenshot plus the TV banner to publish
The featuring rule. To be eligible for the large recommendation formats, apps must provide at least four screenshots at 1080px or better, in 16:9 for landscape (1920 by 1080 minimum) or 9:16 for portrait (1080 by 1920 minimum). Games need at least three. This is the single best reason to export at 1080 by 1920 instead of something smaller

Video

The preview video works differently

Google Play does not take a video upload. The preview video is a YouTube URL on your listing, shown before your screenshots with the feature graphic as its cover

Bonus

Listing text limits, while you are here

App name30 characters
Short description80 characters
Full description4000 characters

The short description is the one that sells. It shows above the fold on your listing, so treat those 80 characters like a headline, not a summary

Questions

Fair questions, straight answers

What size should Google Play screenshots be in 2026?

Each side between 320 and 3840 pixels, longer side at most twice the shorter. In practice 1080 by 1920 covers phones and also satisfies the 1080px minimum Google requires before featuring your app

How many screenshots does Google Play require?

A minimum of two across device types to publish, up to 8 per device type. For featuring, apps need at least four at 1080px or better in 16:9 or 9:16, games at least three

Is the feature graphic required?

Yes. Every listing must include a 1024 by 500 feature graphic in JPEG or 24 bit PNG with no transparency. It doubles as the cover for your preview video. The Play Store screenshot generator ships a preset at exactly that size

Can screenshots have transparency?

No. Screenshots and the feature graphic must be JPEG or 24 bit PNG without alpha. Only the 512 by 512 app icon uses a 32 bit PNG with alpha

Does Google still have separate 7 inch and 10 inch tablet specs?

Current guidance folds tablets in with Chromebooks under the large screens rules: 1080 to 7680 pixels in 16:9 or 9:16, with at least four screenshots recommended
